During the last ten years there is a increasing activity of Windsurfing at the west part of Crete and general in all the island. Wind blows all year long from all the possible directions, so there are different options for windsurfing in different places with alternative conditions.

At west of Crete the most frequent spot  for  both beginners and experts, is Falasarna beach. With South-west winds during winter season. This spot is a wave play-ground only for   experienced windsurfers. During summer, North offshore winds (meltemi)  with flat water make the spot a very good destination for any skill and ability.
Another very beautiful place, usuallly available  for windsurfing, with cristal clear waters and pink sand, is Elafonisi bay which is located to the South-west part of Crete. The most frequent wind direction at the summer is North-west, which gives flat water conditions. Perfect from beginners to experts and for those who like slalom and freestyle. At the winter time when the wind is blowing from the South-East gives  choppy water, perfect for jumping and freestyle.
Near to Chania there is  Stavros port which is ideal place for beginners. Because of it's location  the water is complete flat and the wind is up to 10 knots.
Agia Marina is a place that suits for windsurf and with West winds gives choppy conditions 15-30knots. It is located 5 km West of Chania.
Palaiochora is a small village South- west of Crete and during the summer time with West winds is choppy play ground. With North winds also is possible to windsurf but with offshore winds and usually gusty.
